The DEA is one of the worst agencies in the history of the federal government. It is the embodiment of evil and should be destroyed. This is the twenty-sixth episode of The LAVA Spurt, The DEA is Cancer Edition.

The Drug Enforcement Agency, the DEA, is the federal government's arm that focuses on the war on drugs. They've been in the news a lot recently, and it's not good news.

First, the DEA has been caught bribing citizen volunteers to rifle through innocent American's mail and luggage to help the DEA circumvent the Fourth Amendment, as Buzzfeed News reports.

The DEA has also released a new rule that says that CBD oil is just as illegal as cannabis. The new rules contain an item that establishes a new drug code for “marihuana extract.” “This code,” wrote DEA Acting Administrator Chuck Rosenberg, “will allow DEA and DEA-registered entities to track quantities of this material separately from quantities of marihuana.”

And, finally, a former DEA spokesperson, or as she calls herself, the chief propagandist for the DEA, says that it is common knowledge inside the DEA that cannabis is safe. Marijuana is safe, we know it is safe. It’s our cash cow and we will never give up,” Belita Nelson told an audience of doctors and nurses at the Marijuana for Medical Professionals Conference. Nelson says that was the first thing she learned from her Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) education coordinator, Paul Villaescusa, when she was hired in the Dallas office in April 1998. “I was having fun, I was very good at my propagandist job—I was the chief propagandist for the DEA,” she said.

Government is not the answer, government is the problem, and the DEA is one of the biggest problems of the government. It continues to lie and to kidnap our family and friends for non-violent acts just to protect its own existence. The DEA is cancer that must be destroyed. I wonder if cannabis really does work on cancer?

The DEA is one of the worst agencies in the history of the federal government. It is the embodiment of evil and should be destroyed. Thank you for joining me on the twenty-sixth episode of The LAVA Spurt, The DEA is Cancer Edition.

The Drug Enforcement Agency, the DEA, is the federal government's arm that focuses on the war on drugs. They've been in the news a lot recently, and it's not good news.

First, the DEA has been caught bribing citizen volunteers to rifle through innocent American's mail and luggage to help the DEA circumvent the Fourth Amendment. As Buzzfeed News reports:

In one case, a DEA source working for a package company would rummage through private mail in the hopes of finding bundles of cash he could turn in for reward money.

In other cases, TSA employees working the X-ray machines at travel screening points would tip off the DEA about suspicious packages for cash, rather than report to their own superiors.

It was all part of a program of what the DEA terms “limited use” confidential sources. In theory, these were tipsters who voluntarily handed information over to the DEA.

But in practice, federal investigators found that these sources had become a de facto arm of the agency. The informants did repeat business, were well-compensated, and took direction from the DEA on what information to pass on.

In some cases they made more money from the DEA than they did from their day jobs. Investigators found that one airline employee made $600,000 in four years while a parcel company employee was paid over $1 million across five years.

Now, maybe you'll begin to understand why I agree with Lysander Spooner on the uselessness of the Constitution. The DEA is literally ignoring the Constitution, actively working against it, to steal from you.

The DEA has also released a new rule that says that CBD oil is just as illegal as cannabis. The new rules contain an item that establishes a new drug code for "marihuana extract." “This code,” wrote DEA Acting Administrator Chuck Rosenberg, “will allow DEA and DEA-registered entities to track quantities of this material separately from quantities of marihuana.”

There is no major change in law brought about by the Register item. Rather, it serves to clarify and reinforce the DEA’s position on all cannabis extracts, including CBD oil. That position is: They are all federally illegal Schedule I substances. “Extracts of marihuana will continue to be treated as Schedule I controlled substances,” the notice says.

What if it’s only CBD and no other cannabinoids in the oil? The agency’s response: “For practical purposes, all extracts that contain CBD will also contain at least small amounts of other cannabinoids. However, if it were possible to produce from the cannabis plant an extract that contained only CBD and no other cannabinoids, such an extract would fall within the new drug code” and therefore remain federally illegal. In other words: The DEA is confident that it can find enough traces of other cannabinoids in your CBD oil to arrest and prosecute. And if they can’t, they still have the option of arresting and prosecuting based on the CBD oil itself.

So the DEA is essentially saying that we don't give a fuck if you can't get high on this product, you still can't use it, even as medicine. And, it doesn't matter if it comes only from hemp, or if it's legal in your state, they still don't give a fuck. This, my friends, is why you should not turn to the government to fix your problems. Politics and the government is not there to help you. They are not there to serve you. They are there to continue their existence, nothing more.

Nelson represented the DEA in the international media from 1998 to 2004. She did regular appearances on the talk show circuit, including the Oprah Winfrey show and Nightline, espousing the dangers of cannabis. Today she advocates for its medical use, specifically in the treatment of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in professional football players through an organization she founded: The Gridiron Cannabis Foundation.

She says in 2000, two years into her tenor at the DEA, a close friend and Dallas football player was diagnosed with stage-4 lung cancer. She watched him go through three rounds of chemotherapy and deteriorate from 340 to 140 pounds. She says he could no longer eat or sleep and was miserable.

Nelson went home and asked her then-teenage son if he could find her marijuana. “Even if the DEA is behind my name I am not willing to sit here and watch my friend die,” she said.

The cannabis helped; he started eating and gaining weight and slept more restfully at night. With new motivation, he started a clean eating and juicing diet to complement the marijuana therapy and lived an additional nine years.

Nelson says she even grew the cannabis herself so that she knew it was safe and not smuggled from Mexico.

Good for her for exposing this truth. This just goes to show you that the government isn't keeping it illegal to help you or save you, it's doing it to keep money coming in to it's coffers. As long as the DEA can show it has a purpose, it will continue getting a bigger and bigger budget each year. Once it admits the truth, that budget drops dramatically.

Government is not the answer, government is the problem, and the DEA is one of the biggest problems of the government. It continues to lie and to kidnap our family and friends for non-violent acts just to protect its own existence. The DEA is a cancer that must be destroyed. I wonder if cannabis really does work on cancer?

Until next time... keep striking the root!
